MAYDAY is cashless
At the merchandise & locker booth you can also pay by card or in cash. At the wardrobes you have to pay in cash. ATMs are available in the Westfalenhalle.
Why cashless?
Compared to the previously used token system, the cashless solution is safer, faster and easier. It simplifies the process for us as organisers and thus also your festival experience.

How do I get my cashless wristband?
At the entrance your ticket will be linked to a cashless wristband. The wristband has an RFID chip that can be topped up with credit online in the event portal in advance or during the event and at various TopUp stations on site. You can use the chip to pay for food, drinks, lockers and merchandise.
Lost wristbands will not be replaced!
How can I top up my credit in advance?
You can now top up your credit in the event portal. To do so, you have to register. Then enter the number of your MAYDAY ticket to which you would like to add credit. Only one ticket can be linked per account.
The payment methods are PayPal, credit card and Apple Pay. You can top up your credit online free of charge at any time until the end of the event.
On site, your ticket will be linked to a cashless wristband at the entrance, so that you can use your pre-loaded credit.
How can I top up credit on site?
Self TopUp station:
At these stations you can top up your credit yourself with the help of instructions. You pay here by debit or credit card and the TopUp is free of charge.
Staffed TopUp station:
These stations are staffed. You pay here by debit-/credit card or in cash. There is a charge of EUR 1,- per TopUp at these stations.
Online in the event portal:
You can also top up your credit via your smartphone in the event portal during the event. The next time you come into contact with a cashless device (e.g. at the bar), this credit will be on your cashless wristband. You pay here with PayPal, credit card or Apple Pay. Online TopUp is free of charge.
How much credit can I top up?
The maximum amount of credit on your cashless wristband is EUR 500,-. When your credit is used up, you can top it up again at the TopUp stations or online in the event portal. You can have the full remaining credit refunded after the event. Lost cashless wristbands will not be replaced!
How does payment work on site?
At the entrance your ticket will be linked to a cashless wristband. The wristband has an RFID chip that can be topped up with credit online in the event portal in advance or during the event and at various TopUp stations on site.
At the bars and food areas you hold the chip up to the scanner of the crew to pay. You can see on the scanners beforehand how much credit will be debited from your account and how much credit you have left on your chip. You can also check your current credit balance at the TopUp stations and online in the event portal.
How can I see on site how much credit I have left on my cashless wristband?
You can check your current balance at any TopUp station or online in the event portal and before paying on the scanners of the crew. Before paying, you can also see how much credit will be debited from your account.
Can I see how much credit will be debited when I pay?
Yes, when you pay you can see on the scanners of the crew how much credit will be debited from your account and how much credit you still have on your cashless wristband. You can also check your current credit balance at every TopUp station and online in the event portal event portal.
How can I get my credit refunded?
From 11.12.2023 up to and including 11.12.2023 you can have your full remaining credit refunded in the event portal for a fee of cents. This fee helps us to cover the costs of the manual refund process. The process takes about 5-10 business days after the deadline.
If you have already registered in the event portal, please log in there and follow the instructions.
If you have not registered in the event portal before the event, you will need the ID and PIN from the back of your RFID chip on the cashless wristband for registration and refund. Follow the instructions in the event portal.
It is not possible to refund the remaining balance on site and the refund is not automatic!
Do I still need my cashless wristband after the event?
Yes, if you have not registered in the event portal before the event and would like to get your remaining credit refunded. To register, you will need the ID and PIN from the back of your RFID chip on the cashless wristband. The refund of the remaining credit is possible from 11.12.2023 up to and including 11.12.2023 for a fee of cents. Follow the instructions in the event portal.
How can I book a locker?
After registering in the event portal and linking your ticket, you can book a locker there up to and including 11.12.2023.
Locker small:
- approx. 25x30x45cm
- space for up to two jackets
- price: EUR 7,-
Locker large:
- approx. 45x30x45cm
- space for up to four jackets or a backpack
- price: EUR 11,-
You will receive your locker number and your individual PIN code at the locker booth on site in the Plaza (between Arena and Factory). Please note: Pick-up/use is only possible with your cashless wristband! The lockers are placed in the Passage (next to the Plaza).
Limited booking is also possible on site.
How does data protection work here?
Of course we comply with the applicable data protection regulations. We do not create any movement profiles and your personal data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required to provide services or to process payment and credit transactions and provided that there are no legal storage obligations to the contrary.
